Device tests at very low temperatures

By mvuilleu, in Reviews and Electronics, december 29,2017.

Now that we finally have our small dry ice freezer, we were able to perform systematic measures of cold endurance for our sensors and transmitters. So here are the tests that we performed and the results.

Temperature tests on Yoctopuce devices

By mvuilleu, in Electronics and Reviews, december 17,2017.

You may have noticed that until now our module specifications didn't include a working temperature range. This omission could seem strange, but we didn't want to give raw numbers without accompanying them with some explanations. Indeed, although most of the modules were designed for an extended temperature range, we hadn't had the opportunity to formally valid the theoretical temperatures. Thanks to the small system built two weeks ago, it's getting ready.

How many USB devices can you connect ?

By mvuilleu, in Reviews and Tiny PC, august 01,2016.

The USB specification plans for 127 device adresses on the USB bus, and it is tempting to deduce from this that you can connect up to 127 devices on a USB port. Unfortunately, life is not as simple: this naive reasoning does not take into account all constraints imposed by USB controllers. To give you a better and more useful answer, we have decided to test what works in real life...

Comparison of IoT cellular data plans

By mvuilleu, in Reviews and Internet of Things, june 17,2016.

When you design an application for the Internet of Things based on cellular communications, the price of the communications can represent an important part of the total costs. As the market is expanding, there are new subscription packages dedicated to these applications, with varying conditions depending on the provider. Are all the offers equivalent? Is quality in direct relationship to the price? This is what came out of our first investigations...

Using Yoctopuce sensors with InfluxDB and Grafana

By mvuilleu, in Reviews and Measures, december 05,2015.

Yoctopuce sensors are sold with programming libraries rather than with turnkey software for a specific use. Therefore, most of Yoctopuce users are developers. We do provide a few ready-to-use tools such as the command line interface, somewhat rustic, or the integration into third party solutions such as EmonCMS or Valarm. Today, we present a new solution of this type: an integration with InfluxDB and Grafana.
