Yocto-GPS

The Yocto-GPS device is a 32 channels receiver for GNSS signals emitted by GPS and GLONASS satellites, that enables it to determine the position of the receiver, its speed as well as the current time. The latitude and the longitude at any time can be recorded on the internal flash memory, in order to build a data history that can be retrieved later on over USB.

The device can provide its positioning data at 10Hz, with a resolution of 10-6 degrees, e.g. 10cm approximately. The expected absolute accuracy with clear satellite view is about 1.5m.

This device uses an external active antenna, using a U.FL (IPEX) connector. A small patch antenna (25x25mm, without enclosure) with a 10cm cable is included with the device. You can also use any other active GPS antenna, for instance a larger antenna in a waterproof enclosure with a long cable, using the U.FL to SMA adapter available separately.

This device can be connected directly to an Ethernet network using a YoctoHub-Ethernet, to a WiFi network using a YoctoHub-Wireless-n and to a GSM network using a YoctoHub-GSM.

Yocto-GPS Small active antenna included Yocto-GPS Enclosure to be ordered separately

Hello, great product, I will be ordering shortly.

Can you please confirm if the antenna is including and what the maximum height this unit will operate at?

Thanks!

The Yocto-GPS has pretty standard limitations: it will lose track if any of the following limits are exceeded:
- ITAR limits: velocity greater than 515 m/s AND altitude above 18,000 m
- altitude: 100,000 m (max) or -1500 m (min)
- velocity: 600 m/s (max)
- acceleration: 2 G (max)
Contrarily to what has been previously written, it DOES properly report altitudes above 1000m.

And yes, the small antenna shown on pictures is included.

How much current / Watt consumes the GPS Module? How long does it last to get the position after powering on? In other words, how much Wh does it consume to get a position?
I intend to build as system to gather some 4-20 mA Signals together with the position. It shall be powered by a akkumulator / solar panel combination and need to know how to dimension it, so that it works also in winter.

@thilo: The Yocto-GPS consumption is about 110mA @ 5V. Time to get first position will vary from a few seconds to 5 minutes, depending on off duration and how much it moved during the off period .

Yoctopuce, get your stuff connected.
