New: the Yocto-Pressure

New: the Yocto-Pressure

This week, we yet again announce a new product: the Yocto-Pressure, a small and very simple USB module which enables you to measure the pressure of a gas or of a liquid up to 10 bars.

Presentation

The Yocto-Pressure is a single width, 60mm long module. As with many Yoctopuce sensors, you can split it into two parts, one with the USB electronics and the other one with the sensor itself.

The sensor part is based on a MS5837-30BA from TE connectivity which is hidden under a small mechanical installation. This installation holds an SMC "one touch" fitting firmly affixed against the sensor.

This fitting enables you to easily plug in 4mm tubes. The installation holding the quick coupler also serves to protect the sensor which is extremely fragile. We recommend that you avoid dropping the device on the floor. The module is guaranteed on the pressure range officially supported by the quick coupler, that is 10 bars, but we tested it up to 20 bars without any issue.

Small perk, on top of measuring the pressure, the Yocto-Pressure can measure the temperature of the gas/liquid with which it is in contact. About the temperature, the quick coupler is specified only from -5°C to 60°C for air, and from 0°C to 40°C for water.

Obviously, as all the Yoctopuce sensors, it has its own data logger and you can connect it to one of our YoctoHubs to drive it through the network.

Application

The Yocto-Pressure was designed mostly to measure the pressure in pneumatic systems. We prepared a short demo for you by playing with Yoctopuce's compressed air circuit and by displaying the results in our Yocto-Visualization application.
