How to choose a temperature sensor

By mvuilleu, in Measures, may 24,2019.

More than half of the Yoctopuce devices in the Environmental Sensors category perform temperature measures in one way or another. Why are there so many ways to measure the temperature and what are the advantages and disadvantages of each method?

How to detect a person approaching

By mvuilleu, in Measures, april 19,2019.

We have been asked several times which was the best method to detect someone approaching, for example to automatically turn on the screen of an interactive terminal. One relatively intuitive solution is to use a telemeter such as the Yocto-RangeFinder. This can work in most cases, but there are some pitfalls that you should avoid...

The Yocto-BridgeCalibration application

By martinm, in Measures, april 12,2019.

Some time ago, we offered you a small application enabling you to compute the temperature compensation parameters for the Yocto-Bridge. After using it for a while, we noticed that this application wasn't the most user-friendly we have ever written. This week, we set this right and we propose a version which takes you by the hand to guide you in the required process to compute this compensation.

Accuracy improvement for some devices

By mvuilleu, in New stuff and Measures, march 29,2019.

We recently took some time to study whether it was possible to improve the accuracy of some of our analog sensors with simple software changes. In particular, we suspected that it was possible to improve the sampling strategy to reduce the noise margin on some measures. Good news: it works and a simple firmware update on some modules is sufficient to make them really more accurate on some measures :-)

New! The Yocto-Temperature-IR

By martinm, in New stuff and Measures, march 22,2019.

It was pointed out to us that we didn't have an infrared temperature sensor in our module range. Not to worry, this week we present our brand new Yocto-Temperature-IR. Follow the guide.
